The investment record behind the decision.
Keep approved figures, source references and review history together.
Compare the incoming evidence with the approved figures before accepting the update.
Retain the basis of each figure
Each material figure needs an investment identity, reporting period, currency and source. A valuation also needs its effective date and basis. Keeping these fields together allows the reviewer to establish what the number represents before using it in analysis or reporting.
Review changes before acceptance
Present incoming figures beside the approved record. A board update may revise revenue or cash runway while the last approved holding value remains unchanged. Retain the source passage, review decision and prior values so the reason for each accepted change remains available.
- One identity for each investment, even when documents use different names.
- An explicit period, unit and source for each material value.
- An approval decision and a recoverable history of changes.
Make the evidence accessible
The principal’s briefing should lead back to the approved investment record and its supporting source. An analyst should be able to explain the date, basis and review history of a figure without reconstructing an inbox or comparing separate versions of the report.
